William Lustig, the director of the 1989 Judd Nelson serial killer movie “Relentless,” included subliminal messages intended to inspire real life, would-be serial killers to begin their sprees. But the film was so bad it inspired only inept wanna-be mass murderers who lacked follow-through, and in the end no one died.
